NEC Display Solutions Tariff Information
NEC Display Solutions Tariff Information

The U.S. Department of Commerce and the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) have recently implemented tariffs on Chinese manufactured components and finished goods. Like many others in the industry, NEC Display Solutions products are subject to these tariffs.

We have been looking at different options to lower the impact of tariffs on electronic goods that includes many of the products NEC Display Solutions sells. These options include shifting manufacturing, bringing incremental inventory into our warehouses and working with our distribution partners to maximize our supply chain. However, we can no longer continue to absorb these cost increases and are forced to pass them along. To minimize the impact on our customers, we are blending the cost across portfolio categories.

Effective November 1st, increases will be put into place on select product categories:

  • Digital Cinema Projectors
  • Digital Cinema Projector accessories (includes replacement lamps and lenses)
  • Monitor displays with tuners
  • Projectors
  • Projector accessories (includes replacement lamps and lenses)

We value your business and thank you for your continued support and patience as we both navigate through these dynamic market conditions.  Should the tariffs be eliminated, prices will be reduced to prior levels adjusted for non-tariff related price changes.

Question: Tariffs went into effect in September, so why are you only now raising prices?
Tariffs went into effect last year, and again in September 2019.  Since then we have been absorbing the additional expense while we assess different options to lower the impact to NEC and our customers.

Question: What happens with pricing on current open purchase orders?
The price increase applies on all new purchase orders placed on or after November 1, 2019.  Current open purchase orders will not be affected.

Question: Are these price increases only for sales in the US?
The price increase affects sales of all products in the US, Canada, and Latin America. Currently, NEC product is shipped into the United States before being routed to other countries and, as such, are impacted by the tariffs.

Question: Will NEC raise pricing on additional products due to tariffs in the future?
It is possible that NEC will raise pricing as the tariff situation unfolds.  We continue to monitor the situation.
