NEC-Mitsubishi Electric Visual Systems, the parent company of NEC-Mitsubishi Electronics Display, is honored by Sun Microsystems with the "Meritorious Award" for outstanding performance as a supplier in the financial year 2004. The prize is particularly significant since NEC-Mitsubishi Electric Visual Systems has only been working with Sun for six months, whereas companies with which Sun has generally had a longer relationship are usually considered for the award. NEC-Mitsubishi delivers to Sun using a Just-in-Time concept in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the USA and Japan. In Sun's internal ranking the company achieved the fourth best assessment of all suppliers. In this assessment, the supplier's activities and success in supporting Sun's ambitious Direct-to-Customer logistics concept count very highly, but other diverse parameters including a low level of breakdowns and reliability of the products are also taken into account. In addition to the award, NEC-Mitsubishi Electric Visual Systems also took fourth place in Sun's internal ranking of all suppliers - for both quarters since its business relations with Sun began.
For 14 years, as part of the Annual Supplier Awards Program, Sun Microsystems has already recognized suppliers who have provided outstanding services. In addition to the "Meritorious Award", which was awarded to ten other Sun suppliers this year, the "Supplier of the Year" and "Best-in-Class Award" were also awarded to NEC-Mitsubishi Electric Visual Systems. In this assessment, the supplier's activities and success in supporting Sun's ambitious Direct-to-Customer logistics concept count very highly, but other diverse parameters including a low level of breakdowns and reliability of the products are also taken into account. NEC-Mitsubishi delivers to Sun in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the USA and Japan, with logistics being organized using a Just-in-Time concept, whereby Sun electronically transmits its updated requirements every day. The award also recognizes the excellent co-operation between NEC-Mitsubishi's national companies involved in supplying Sun.
The Meritorious Award was presented on 9th November at NEC-Mitsubishi's headquarters. The ceremony was attended by Kurt Doelling, Vice President Supplier Management and Operations Strategy and Carol Ramirez, Supply Base Development Manager from Sun Microsystems.
