In its environmental efforts, NEC works alongside agencies such as the EPA Energy Star, International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and EU Commission Environmental Directives and TCO (Swedish Trades Union).

On a global basis, NEC is involved in the formulation, driving and implementation of environmental policies through membership of EPA Energy Star, EIA, Product Stewardship Institute, EPA’s eCycling, EICTA, the voice of the ICT industry to the EU Commission, and the Japanese Business Council USA and Europe.

NEC has instituted an internal company program to ensure in-time compliance with all of the recent worldwide directives (EPEATTM, eCycling, ENERGY STAR, WEEE, RoHS, and Packaging and Packaging Waste). We also work closely with partners and representatives to ensure legal compliance to meet any local environmental legislation.

NEC ensures that all worldwide manufacturing facilities (whether owned or contracted) are compliant with the stringent ISO14001 (Environmental Management) norm.

Our parent company, NEC Corporation, is involved with Japanese industry forums, such as JEITA and JETRO, which together play an important role in the development and implementation of international environmental and trade policy.

Key Initiatives

Packaging & Packaging Waste

Not only are NEC Display Solutions’ products manufactured with the environment in mind, but its packaging is developed with some of the same guidelines in mind. One such standard is the Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive.

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

All NEC Display Solutions products meet Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, a directive of the European Union that controls the disposal of equipment and the percentage going to landfill.

Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS)

The European Union's directive regarding Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) prohibits, in principle, the inclusion of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. All NEC Display Solutions products meet RoHS compliance standards. NEC has installed comprehensive in-house analysis systems to confirm the compliance of products to the RoHS directive.
