The European Union's directive regarding Restrictions on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) prohibits, in principle, the inclusion of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic products. All NEC Display Solutions products meet RoHS compliance standards. NEC has installed comprehensive in-house analysis systems to confirm the compliance of products to the RoHS directive.
The use of the following substances is restricted or its application prohibited:
SubstanceApplication
Lead (Pb)solder, power cords, wires, plastics, component finish
Mercury (HG)switch, LCD monitor, relays, bulbs
Cadmium (Cd)power cords, wires, contact points
Hexavalent Chromium (Cr Vl)surface treatment of enclosures
Polybrominated Biphenyl (PBB)plastics, printed circuit boards
Polybrominated Diphenylether (PBDE)plastics, rubber, printed circuit boards
To meet the directives of RoHS, we're obligated to completely phase out material containing substances regulated by RoHS directive, which has led to a mandate for all of our suppliers. We're also required to check for and replace materials containing substances regulated by R0HS.
NEC Display Solutions has initiated checking procedures to determine the concentration of substances regulated by the RoHS directive in parts and materials from its suppliers. We are taking action to replace the products that are found during these inspections to exceed the standards levels.
