The INF file which comes with Windows 2000/XP, provides configuration
information such as resolution and refresh rates for many NEC
monitors. If all your hardware is Plug-and-Play, and your
monitor is listed in the INF file that came with your
version of Windows 2000/XP, the monitor will be detected automatically,
or you can select your monitor through the Display Properties
dialog box. If your monitor is not listed in your current INF
file, then an updated INF file can be downloaded from NEC Display Solutions
web site
Note: The refresh rate setting in Windows
2000/XP is under the monitor tab instead of the adapter tab.
The following steps will help you with the Windows 2000/XP monitor
setup. |

| Was your monitor selected on startup. |
You can verify that the correct monitor was selected by the following:
- Right mouse click on the desktop
(move the mouse cursor to an empty spot on the screen
and click the right mouse button), A dialog box as
shown at right will appear, select "Properties"
and left mouse click to open the Display Properties
dialog box.

- In the Display Properties dialog box, click on the "Settings" Tab. If your monitor is listed, it has been detected.

If your monitor is not detected automatically, continue with
"Selecting your monitor"

- Click the "Start" button
and highlight the "Settings" option.
- From there, select the "Control Panel" folder.
- Double click on the "Display"
icon in the control Panel.
- Select the "Settings"
tab in the "Display Properties" window.
- Click on the "Advanced"
button.
- Click on the "Monitor"
tab.
- Click on the "Properties"
button.
- Click on the "Driver"
tab.
- Click on the "Update Driver"
button.
- In the Update Driver Wizard click
"Next" .
- Select "Display a list of
known Drivers" . Click "Next" .
- Select "Show all hardware" .
- Select "NEC" as the Manufacturer.
- Select the correct model.
- Click "Next" .
- In start device driver installation
click "Next " .
- Click "Finish" .
- Click "Close".
Note: If a message is displayed informing
you that a .ICM file could not be found, you can click
on "Skip the file" and finish the installation.
The ICM file is a color profile for your monitor and
is not required by all users, if you are doing professional
graphics design work, then you should download a new
inf file that will contain the ICM file from the internet.
You can do this by following the instructions in "Windows
95/98/2000/XP monitor "NECMon.zip" file Download
Instructions".

TIP: You must unzip NECMSINF.ZIP to
extract NECMon.inf after it has been download to your system. Record where you download
the file on your hard drive, or download it to a floppy disk.
- Download NECMSINF.ZIP,
(the Windows 95/98/2000 NEC-Mon.inf file) from NEC's
Internet.
- To complete the download, follow the instructions displayed on your
screen.
- When the download is completed,
you need to unzip the file. If you do not have an
unzip utility, one can be obtained from http://www.winzip.com/
- Proceed to Un-zip NECMSINF.ZIP

| The following example is using WinZip version 6.3 SR-1
(926) 32-bit. |
- Double click on NECMSINF.ZIP

- At the WinZip Wizard - Welcome dialog box, click
the "Next" button.

- At the WinZip Wizard - Unzip (necmsinf.zip) dialog box,
you will see the message Click "Unzip Now" to unzip to the selected
folder. Select the destination folder on your hard drive, or save the file to a
floppy disk by clicking the "Select different folder" button. Or accept
the folder listed under "Selected Folder". Click the "Unzip
Now" button.

the "Close" button.

- If you have the "Advanced Properties"
version click on the Monitor tab, then Change button. If you have the "Change
Display Type" version, click Monitor Type "Change"
button.
- Select the "Show all devices" radio icon in the Select
device dialog box. Under Manufacturers: scroll down and select NEC Technologies. In
the Models section scroll through the list of NEC monitors and select your
MultiSync monitor.
- Click OK.

- In the Display Properties box, click on the Settings Tab

- In the command line , identify where the NECMon.inf file is located and

new monitor type.
- Under Manufacturers: scroll down and select NEC Technologies. In
the Models section scroll through the list of NEC monitors and select your
MultiSync/AccuSync monitor.
- Click OK.
